Employer: Faculty of Engineering of UMONS participates to many important research programmes in the field of Information Technology and Communication. One particular important research axis is signal processing (audio, image and video). For this reason, the numediart Insti­tute for New Media Art Tech­nol­ogy was founded in june 2010. Build­ing upon MONS 2015 (Mons will be an Euro­pean Cap­i­tal of Cul­ture in 2015), the Insti­tute orga­nizes internationally-renowned sci­en­tific train­ing and research activ­i­ties in the area of new media art tech­nol­ogy. The top­ics cov­ered by the Insti­tute are : audio, image, video, ges­ture, and bio-signal pro­cess­ing, for appli­ca­tions in which the inter­ac­tion between man and machine aims at cre­at­ing emo­tions.

Mission: In the framework of ARC-OLIMP research Programme (On Line Interactive Multimedia Processing), 2008-13, we offer 2 Post-Doc grants of 12 months (renewable once) to conduct high-level research on image or multimedia real-time processing, exploiting specific hardware (GPU or FPGA).

The candidates will supervise work of one or two Ph.D. students and animates a research team in order to produce concrete results in new media art technology. They will be integrated in the Numediart Institute.

Candidates profile:

- Ph.D. in the field of IT

- Excellent scientific record (papers and international conferences)

- Fluency in English and French

- Interest for "Art and Technology"

- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to supervise a small research team
